How to use a fire extinguisher

Remember P.A.S.S. If the fire is larger than you are, leave and call 999.

Pull the safety pin out of the handle.

Point the nozzle at the base of the fire, not the flames.

Squeeze slowly and evenly to release the powder.

Frequently asked questions

Which kit is right for my home?
Go by the size of your home, the number of rooms and the number of cars. The Basic kit suits homes under 1,500 sqft with 1 to 2 rooms and 1 car. The Plus kit suits 1,500 to 3,500 sqft with 3 to 4 rooms and 2 cars. The Pro kit suits homes over 3,500 sqft with more than 4 rooms.
Can I buy the products without a kit?
Yes. Every product in the kits is sold on its own, so you can fill the gaps in what you already have. The kits cost less than buying the same products separately.
Where should each product go?
The fire blanket goes on the kitchen wall, a few steps from the stove. A 3kg extinguisher goes on each floor, near an exit. A smoke detector goes on the ceiling outside each bedroom. The 1kg goes under a seat in each car.
Do the extinguishers need yearly servicing?
Not for home use. Check the pressure gauge now and then and make sure the needle stays in the green band. Commercial and workplace units need annual servicing to keep a BOMBA licence valid.
How long do the products last?
Our extinguishers have a shelf life of about 12 years and can be refilled after use. The Smoke Detector PLUS has a 10-year lifespan. The fire blanket is for one use, so replace it after a fire.
Can I buy in person?
Yes. Our Petaling Jaya headquarters is open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm.
