How to use it on a pan fire
Pull both black tapes down firmly and the blanket drops out of the case. Hold it by the top corners with the edge folded over your hands, and lay it over the pan, moving away from you.
Turn off the heat. Leave the blanket in place until the pan has cooled completely, because lifting it early lets air back in and the fire can restart.
Never throw water on a burning pan of oil. It turns to steam instantly and throws burning oil out of the pan.
Where to keep it in the kitchen
Hang the case on the kitchen wall, a few steps from the stove and on the side nearest the way out. Do not hang it directly above the stove, where you would have to reach over the flames to get it.
Keep the tapes hanging free so anyone in the house can grab them.
It also covers a person
If someone's clothes catch fire, wrap the blanket around them and get them to the floor to smother the flames. You can also wrap it around yourself to get past heat and flames on your way out of a room.

What fires is it for?
Small fires in a pan or pot on the stove, including cooking oil, and a person whose clothes are on fire. If the fire has spread beyond the pan, use an extinguisher, or leave and call 999.
How do I use it?

Can I use it again after a fire?
No. The Fire Shield is made for one use. Once it has been used on a fire, replace it with a new one.

Will the fibres make my skin itch?
No. The fibreglass is coated in silicone, so it does not shed the loose fibres that make plain fibreglass blankets itch.
Does it need checking or servicing?
There is no gauge or pressure to check. Make sure the tapes hang free and nothing blocks the case, so it comes out cleanly when you need it.
Can I buy it in person?
Yes. Our Petaling Jaya headquarters is open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm.
